Summer will fly by, as it always manages to do. We have a lengthy novel to read for our October 3rd Great Books meeting. Pick up The Count of Monte Cristo and start reading!
As I recently told a GB member, I am unapologetically smitten with the Count. This was not true when I began reading, but gradually I became enamored and amazed by this most famous character of adventure literature.
Like many book readers, I often read several books at once, alternating between light fiction (murder mysteries for me), a nonfiction book, and our Great Books assignment. For now I have shelved all other books and I read only The Count during any free minutes I have.
Grab this book, call upon your fount of patience — at least in the beginning pages — and experience one of the most beloved classics of the 19th century.
Has anyone gotten into the book? Contact me through this GB website. I’d love to know your opinion of this novel.
