Please read Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein so you can join the debate: Should we deem this work a Great Book? There are five Tuesdays this month, so you have an extra week to read before we gather on December 6th.
This was my first reading of Frankenstein, and I was surprised how very different the novel is compared to the myriad movie adaptations over the decades. Of course most movie adaptations are notorious for veering from the original plot, but just about the only recognizable part of the book in the movie versions is the title.
I predict a lively conversation that touches on loneliness, science fiction, the definition of humanity, etc. See you December 6, in person or virtually!
