We’re Here for the Laughs

Next Up: Aristophanes: Lysistrata and Frogs

We often forget that people living 2,400+ years ago enjoyed a satisfying belly laugh just like we do today. Aristophanes will remind you that humor was as important for the Ancient Greeks as it is for audiences of the twenty-first century.
We inevitably identify with the enduring emotions of grief, jealousy, rage, etc. in a Shakespearean tragedy. When it comes to the comedies of Aristophanes, we understand (and enjoy) their humor and incisive wit because these attributes are also timeless and enduring — not modern innovations.

Please join us for the discussion of Lysistrata and Frogs on Tuesday, October 18th at 7:00p.m.!
